Geez. Germany and Austria mandated FFP2 masks. They/that made no positive difference whatsoever. Case closed.

Good writing Valerie. I've noticed a prolonged push to normalise mask wearing in hospitals etc and only this time for these masks to be 'high grade' which are the most harmful to health.

'Whistleblower nurse' Lesley Roberts i recall is a proponent of this direction of travel citing one time on X surgical masks as 'unsafe' and supporting respirator use as 'easy' and as a way to avoid 'long covid.' Challenging this at the time resulted in being blocked.

A sad reminder for Scotland is that 'Annes' Law' (Anne who did even die from 'covid' but rather the isolation and dehumanisation inflicted from lockdown) has received Royal Assent and is now active normalising the harmful yet disproven IPC measures in care homes (for ANY outbreak defined by public health) which i believe also extends to other settings. And in the words of Nicola Dicke at the UK COVID inquiry you are still not getting into a care home during ANY winter 'outbreak' AND in another pandemic.

‘‘As far as i am aware it would be in only the most extreme cases that YOU WOULD’NT BE PERMITTED to have a relative access you in a care home so i would assume that would mean for the period of any future pandemic AND indeed where we’ve got outbreaks of infection over the winter period.’’

‘‘Anne had dementia but was prevented from receiving visits by her family carers for an EXTENDED period and THAT led to a serious decline in her health and death.’’

Lessons are being learned. As Starmer sought to prosecute our veterans using the ECHR no such effots afaik are being made from bereaved groups in relation to what happened to loved ones despite the ECHR being torn up throughout lockdown including the most serious breach of all Article 3. The gov and care homes have somehow managed to come out of this even stronger.

On top of all that Liam MacArthur MSP has stated he wants the Oregon model of 'assisted dying' for Scotland which will further target elderly and vulnerable.

You may also find this Jan 2026 article of relevance.

''Until they accept the way to prevent it is by ventilating, filtering and sterilising the air and wearing respiratory masks designed for the purpose, hospitals will be among the riskiest places for clinically vulnerable people.''

Re your final link, Sally Witcher had the good grace to have a conversation with me some years back despite knowing we had opposing views. We didn’t exactly make friends but finished the discussion in mutual but respectful disagreement. Sally identifies herself as a vulnerable person so is understandably concerned about hospital acquired infections. However, her focus on substituting poor ventilation with respirator masks has been embraced and exploited by those intent on masking all heath and social care workers. The very nature of modern hospitals makes them very unhealthy places. Poor ventilation must play a part but HAIs probably have more to do with very sick people being chronically dehydrated, sleep deprived, undernourished and fed a cocktail of medications with no idea of how they interact with each other. Popping on a mask is seen as a quick solution to extremely expensive to resolve problems but of course will only make the problems worse.
